As the caption suggests, the idea for this cartoon was born while I was watching a livestream of the Tabernacle Choir's Hollywood Bowl concert on 24 June 2026. One of the several guest artists was Donny Osmond. During his part, he sang two songs from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat — a throwback to when he played the role of Joseph from 1992 to 1997.

The Hollywood Bowl concert was not the first time Donny Osmond had relived his Joseph days when given the opportunity and a captive audience. Although I am a fan of his music and acting, I confess feeling just a little bit amused at Donny's habit of repeatedly reminding viewers of his time as Joseph. After all, it's been thirty years — surely he's done noteworthy stuff since then! But, almost as soon as I had that thought, I remembered my own penchant for retro-computing. How often have I made my kids play Commodore games with me, when they would prefer playing newer titles? Once I made that connection, this cartoon practically wrote itself.
