These drawings are in homage to a painting entitled A New Letter From Her Missionary which appeared in the February 1995 issue of Ensign magazine. When I discovered this painting as a young missionary, I remember being impressed by its artistry but amused by its overt sentimentality.

So in the spirit of parody, I drew a companion picture to it, which I dubbed "A New Letter From His Girl." My intent was to humorously portray the excitement felt by missionaries when one receives a letter from a girl back home. To provide the needed context, I also drew a cartoon version of the original painting. My apologies to the original artist.
