In high school, I had an odd fascination with kidneys. It all started when I read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "trilogy" by Douglas Adams. At one point in the book, the author (for humorous effect) makes reference to a "pair of fetid dingo's kidneys". I thought the expression was a colorful one, and so it stuck with me.
